The difference between N95, KN95, FFP2 and KF94

On the current situation of the epidemic, people still need to do a good job of wearing masks and other protective measures. However, there are many kinds of masks on the market, such as N95, KN95, FFP2 and KF94, such as disposable masks, masks, ordinary masks and so on.

Therefore, Shanghai C&G will briefly explain the difference between N95, KN95, FFP2 and KF94.

The most significant difference between the four types of masks is that they are made in different countries.

N stands for not resistant to oil, which means that the filter material cannot be used in environments containing oil and gas, and the number after it is the filtration efficiency, the larger the number, the better the effect. N95 means that the filter can filter more than 95% of particles at any time during the test.

KN is the Chinese standard and its testing method is the same as the American standard. If we follow the GB2626-2006 standard, domestic masks can be divided into KN and KP, KN means the mask is suitable for filtering non-oil particles and KP means the mask is suitable for filtering oil and non-oil particles. The number after the letter represents the protection level of the mask, the larger the number, the higher the protection level.

European standard mask, which meets the European Standards Committee's certification standards for respiratory protection equipment. According to the tested particle penetration rate of the solid particle protection filter material, there are three levels of protection: P1 (FFP1), P2 (FFP2) and P3 (FFP3).

FFP1 minimum filtration ≥ 80%.

FFP2 minimum filtration ≥ 94%.

FFP3 minimum filtration ≥ 97%.

KF is the Korean standard for mainstream masks issued by the Ministry of Food And Drug Safety (MFDS).

KF80 has a minimum filtration effect of ≥80%

KF94 has a minimum filtration effect of ≥94%.

KF99 has a minimum filtration effect of ≥97%.

In fact, these four types of masks are similar in terms of protection level, except that their corresponding national test standards are different. However, regardless of the standard, we can consider N95, KN95, FFP2 and KF94 to be the same level of protection mask.
